ASU Undergraduate Physics Major Wins Award at APS March Meeting

Sam Migirditch, a member of Biyosef since 2013, won an award for his undergraduate research on fluorescence anisotropy at the APS March Meeting. There were 150 undergraduates presenting this year and only twenty recieved awards.

Spring 2014 - Ralph E. Powe Jr. Faculty Enhancement Award

PI Dr. Brooke Hester (Physics) and co-PI Dr. Jennifer Cecile (Chemistry) recieved the Ralph E. Powe Jr. Faculty Enhancement Award and $10,000 in funding from Oak Ridge Associated Universities. The Award provides seed money for research by junior faculty at ORAU member institutions.

Spring 2014 - Appalachian Women Scientists (AWS) Grants

PI Dr. Brooke Hester and co-PI Dr. Jennifer Cecile were awarded a $1,500 seed grant from the Office of Student Research at Appalachian State University as well as a $4,848 AWS Infrastructure grant.

Spring 2014 - Undergraduate Research Assistantships

Two BiyOSeF students have each been awarded an Undergraduate Research Assistantship (URA) from the Office of Student Research at Appalachian State University. URA's are awarded to highly motivated students working closely with a faculty mentor on their research.

Jacob Cole has been awarded the George Barthalmus Undergraduate Research Grant from the State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium advisory board for his work on Towards Frequency-Domain Fluorescence Anisotropy of the Organic Anion Transporter.
